May 2005, the château of Chenonceau received the label "on the trail of the Child King" Telling history and stories to children -- this is the magic formula created by the Tourism Committees of the Anjou and Touraine region. The purpose is to enable children to understand more thoroughly and love our marvellous cultural heritage during a weekend with the whole family. For children from 7 to 12 years old, "On the trail of the Child King" provides a living and educational discovery of the history of the Loire Valley, added in 2000 to the World Heritage List by UNESCO. "On the trail of the Child King" also allows parents to accompany their children in this cultural discovery by creating an exchange between them and the sites. |
The concept of "On the trail of the Child King" is very simple: in cooperation with the 53 partner sites, the Tourism Committees of the Anjou and Touraine region have created discovery play files, one for each site, illustrated with questions, rebuses, riddles, photos… these files take children back to another epoch during their visit. Each answer is to be found in the course of the visit or in an explanation provided by the guide. With this discovery game, the help of the guide and advice from parents, the child can learn history, tell himself stories, and understand the heritage around him while having fun with varied themes. |
