Green
Garden

Introduction

A collection of remarkable trees provides shade to this enclosed lawn. This ensemble of exceptional, centuries-old trees consists of: three plane trees, three Atlas cedars, a Spanish fir, a catalpa, a chestnut tree, two Douglas firs, two redwoods, a locust tree, a black walnut and a splendid green oak.

From the Orangerie, built in the 18th and 19th centuries, the view across the Green Garden reveals the profile of the château. In the 16th century, Catherine de’ Medici chose this location to house her menagerie and aviaries.
